A mistake and the lifetime of regret

Story:The police station, in a bad mood and in a weak mood, returns to the remains of an accident that he has tried to forget all his life. With every step he takes, the memories start to come back. He is forced to remember his mistake. He must find strength to continue living.

Independent of Pixar

Andrew Coats and Lou Hamou-Lhadj, the directors of this short animation, two of the artists who work at Pixar Studios, presented a design there and were able to convince Pixar to allow them to do an independent project and they could use the equipment. Use hardware and software, especially render studio engine, to make your animation.

5 year production process

The most difficult challenge they faced in the production was to do parts in which they had no previous experience, the two had worked at Pixar as animators and character designers. But they had no information about lighting. And the big thing was that they couldn’t get help from anyone outside of Pixar.

During the production of the project, their work was delayed several times because Pixar started making Monsters University and then started the Inside Out project. And that’s how their work lasted for about 5 years.

Successful academics

Andrew Coats and Lou Hamou-Lhadj studied together at New York’s Tisch School of the Arts before working together at Pixar, and that’s where they got their start. After graduation, Hamou-Lhadji started working at Pixar and Coats at Blue Sky, and in 2010, when Coats joined Pixar, the two collaborated, and this was the beginning of thinking about the story of “Borrowed Time”.
