As you can see at the beginning of the video, the most common questions of the past year revolved around change. Can I change my lifestyle? Can I change my job? Can I be the person I want to be? These were questions that were frequently asked throughout the past year.
Among the top 10 global searches, the phrase “Wordle” ranks first. Wordle is a web-based game featured in The New York Times‘ online games section. It is a word-guessing game. An interesting note is that if you search for the word “Wordle” on Google, the Google logo changes and resembles the appearance of the game.
In the Games section of the New York Times website, you can play all kinds of games online, such as “Crossword” and “Sudoku,” which were traditionally printed in newspapers.
Among the top searches from ranks 2 to 10, the highest search volume in rank 3 is for “Ukraine” due to the war between Ukraine and Russia. In rank 4, “Queen Elizabeth” appears due to the passing of Queen Elizabeth II on September 8, 2022, at the age of 96. Ranking 2, 4, and 5 are attributed to “Will Smith,” “Chris Rock,” and “Jada Pinkett Smith.” The matter goes back to the previous year’s Oscars ceremony when Jada Pinkett Smith, the wife of Will Smith, suffered from a medical condition that caused her hair loss. Ranked first among athletes is the professional tennis player from Serbia, “Novak Djokovic.” Searches for his name primarily focused on his net worth, which was reported to be around 230 million dollars in 2022. Additionally, there were searches related to his deportation from Australia due to not complying with COVID testing requirements, and his performance in the Wimbledon 2022.
“Rafael Nadal” and “Serena Williams,” two professional tennis players, were also highly searched due to their performances in last year’s competitions, although no specific incidents were mentioned. However, the fourth spot goes to “Manti Te’o,” a rugby athlete, whose documentary titled “Untold: The Girlfriend Who Didn’t Exist” was released on Netflix last year. And finally, the last athlete on the list is “Shaun White,” a professional snowboarder, whose name was searched for his recent competitions and also for his friendship with “Nina Dobrev,” an actress from the series “The Vampire Diaries.“
Ranked first is “Paneer Pasanda,” an exquisite Indian dish, rich and flavorful, filled with chunks of paneer (Indian cottage cheese) immersed in a delicious and excellently flavored sauce.
In the second spot is “Homemade Cake” or “Bolo Caseiro,” a classic favorite among searches.
The third place goes to “Salt Cookies” or “Tuzlu Kurabiye.”
The fourth most searched recipe is “Overnight Oats” or “Müsli with Oats,” a mix of oats soaked in milk and yogurt, along with chia seeds and other additives.
And finally, in the fifth position, we have “Cinnamon Rolls” or “Zimtschnecken,” a delightful pastry loved by many.
In contrast to the previous year, where 3 out of the top 5 films belonged to the MARVEL studio, this year, DC managed to secure 2 spots, with only one film from MARVEL making it to the top 5 list, along with one animated film from Disney.
Taking the first position is “Thor: Love and Thunder,” a MARVEL studio film starring Christian Bale, Chris Hemsworth, and Natalie Portman.
Interesting note: In 2021, the second spot was occupied by “Black Widow,” while in 2022, it goes to “Black Adam,” featuring Dwayne Johnson.

“The Batman,” another DC film, is the fourth on the list of top movies.
And finally, the animated film “Encanto” from Disney takes the fifth spot.
